This high quality legume is ideal for wildlife food plots, especially for deer. Lab Lab can be used in conjunction with other forage crops or alone to provide silage, green chop or pasture for livestock. We recommend planting Lablab with forage sorghum, millet, sorghum-sudangrass or corn. The Lab Lab vines will wrap around and grow up the stalks of these plants allowing both plants to thrive and provide abundant forage to animals. With a protein range between 21 and 28%, Lab Lab is a high quality forage choice for summer pastures and food plots. Planting methods: To establish Lab Lab for pasture or wildlife plots, disc harrow, smooth and firm the seed bed in the spring when ground temperatures are maintaining a temp between 65 and 70 degrees. Add Inoculant (if not in bag it is already applied to seed) to seed before planting. Plant 5 lbs. per / acre if planted in drilled rows 6-8 inches apart or broadcast at 10 lbs. per acre. The seeds should be covered to a depth of 1/2 inch for proper germination to occur. Allow 4 to 5 weeks of growth prior to grazing for cattle. For wildlife plots always plant with corn, millet or sorghum to allow plants to establish properly. Lab Lab is adapted to most sites from partially dry conditions to occasional water logged soils. Lab Lab produces abundant forage throughout the summer, growing until first frost occurs in the fall. Lab Lab has good drought and heat resistance and is used throughout the Southeast and Texas.
